In 6600: Part 1
You know, sometimes, just when you have the urge to pen you thoughts down and you don't have pen and paper in hand. There's where I grab my handphone and type it out letter for letter in my notes sections or in sms and then save it as draft. And so I saved message after message...

Until one day my phone got buggy and could access my sms section. So slowly, one by one, I wrote down the messages out and del them from my phone. So now here they are, in a place where they will never be forgotten.

Hanging out with frens last nite made me think a lot about relationships n how something we all felt wouldn't affect it would actually play a pivotal role in wat we're in. If I were to set out wat I intended to, e 3 of us would be in diff stages of e same thing. How ironic isn't it? I guess just when I decided to go ahead, I would see a dead end sign already.

E sky was blue, e sun was turnin orange, a constant breeze filled e air. It's been a long time since we all met together. A lot had changed. It was awkward in e beginning, but I was glad we could still talk. Looking at e whole thing made me rearranged my priorities again, or more of putting something tht I 4got to include.

Movies Galore
After the exams, these were the movies that I watched and my comments. The Internet Movie Database is a good place to search what the movies are about.

The marathon:
Hostel - A sick hobby it was. People around me call it half porn flick, half bloody gory flick. I couldn't agree more. Since most have watched it, I chose it first. For the first half, people who came by the lounge got scared that I was watching Hostel. And so I was lonely, watching the first half, which was a porn flick. The second half, more people came, came in to watch but got scared and ran out. It was really funny. Anyway, it's about this bunch of backpackers who travelled to Europe looking for sex, but got drugged and ended as torture subjects for rich people who got kicks outta it.

Crash - This was the only oscar movie I haven't watched this year. And it certainly deserved the Best Picture. Who the hell said Brokeback will win it. If I had see both at the same time, I would have given it to Crash, no questions asked. The movie talks about how a few lives get intertwined with each other and that all are just trying to get by their lives, not knowing their actions would affect one another. A few touchy issues were covered. Nice touches to the small details in the movie made it for me. Also as the name suggests, it all starts with a crash, ends in a crash, and how lives can crash down and against one another.

Saw2 - If you saw how brillant Saw was, Saw 2 had the same formula. Mad serial killer making his victims play a game and paying for their sins. Good twist in the end, but not as good as the first. Good character development as always.

Doom - It was getting late, and it's time for no brainers. Doom is just shoot them up standard. It was gonna get a B+ in the B-movie category until when the First-person-shooter view came on. Most of the movie was not bad, had the style and feel of standard shoot-them-all movie. They even had the science and suspense to top it off. But when FPS came on, I was laughing all the way. It was so fake. And that was the end of the movie, it killed it.

Eurotrip - This one didn't even have science inside. It was all crazy teen flick style. Full of sex jokes and sex in mind, the usual American pie style. Find a reason to go Europe and the adventure begins.

The rest of the list was what I had watched so far.

Hoodwinked - Cool animated film. Little red riding hood with a twist. Themes were quite mature, not really for the kids. The characters were funny and cool. Good attempt.

8 women - French show which had countless rave reviews. After watching it, the only thing that got to me was the singing. Felt funny and kinda outta place, maybe it's norm in France. Other than that, watching 8 popular French actresses in a single movie was amazing. The story was quite interesting, but it was the 8 women who had me glued to the end.

Skyhigh - Good attempt from Disney. They should more cool characters like that, and a witty script to go with that. If not, Pixar and Dreamworks will kill it. Think it's for kids? I think in the end, everyone who watched it before said it was "not bad".

Tom Yum Goong - They say it was the sequel to Ong Bak, but I watched it first. I saw it in Thai without English subtitles, but my friend said you could watch it without english, "just see the action can liao". He was true, it about how a village boy saving his pet baby elephant and destroying the bad guys and the ivory trade. Good action as promised.

Memoirs Of A Geisha - It was much talked about in it's hey day. Beginning of the movie was ooh aah, nice movie, eye opener to the culture. Then slowly, the movie slowed down and became such a bore. Paced could have been better. Zhang Ziyi still as pretty as ever.

Ong Bak - After Tom Yum Goong, I went to download Ong Bak. As they always say, the original still the best. The cast is the same, but the characters different. So the sequel it wasn't, just that the cast remain intact. The action and stunts here were much better and story much better. One point was that the main bad guy looked like the Malaysian Prime Minister. Dunno whether was it a pun or not, but funny.

A Chinese Tall Story - They said it was lame, and boy it was. This could be compared to Alone In The Dark. These movies should never see the light of day man. Still I always tell myself you gotta watch shitty movies to appreciate the good ones much more and cherish them.

Runaway Jury - Well scripted, good cast, good show. John Grisham never fails to impress.

Nanny Mcphee - Kiddy show. But a nice feel good movie. Cool lines learnt in there.

The Long Weekend - This one had more sex in mind than Eurotrip. Meant only for guys to watch. Really.

American Pie Band Camp - Bunch of new cast star in this one. There goes their career man. I can swear that I was sympathising with their careers when I watched it. At least they should have tried a teen screamer flick. Watch only if you want to catch the R(A) parts.

Finding Neverland - Interesting story of how Peter Pan was inspired. Johnny Depp impresses again. Nice movie, quite inspirational I must say.

That's all for now. More to come.

After A Long Absence... A Long Post
Here we go again. What happened after the exams? Must have gone to enjoy myself? Yeah, sort of, but also been super busy, in many aspects.

First off, the exams was alrite. Felt I study more this time round, with textbooks and all. I wouldn't usually touch the textbook, but this sem really needed it. A few days back, there was this link going round where we could see our 'new' CAP score, but not indivdual grades. It wasn't good, I hoping it'd turn out better. I'll only know when I get back from Malaysia. At least I get to truely enjoy a decent holiday before the nightmare sets in.

Preparing it was kinda manageable, but still the usual last minute rush for admin stuff. Gotta thank that most of my comm were still around doing things. So just had to make sure things got done, rather than do it myself.

In sort of chronological order of events....--> Friday, 5th May, that day morning was like a rush to get the paper over and done with. Studying and waiting for it for a week was torture. And it was the last last paper, and there no one to "suan" that you're not the last paper. So you get the brunt of it. Anyway, after the paper, it was off to enjoy. First off, movie marathon. I had one a week back after my second last paper ended, but this one's in the lounge. I'll list out the movies with my comments later. Cos after that, I've been watching movies non-stop to clear my harddrive.

Next up, was the comms. Astro as I said, was alright. Most ended early and resumed working out the admin for the trip. I just had to catch up with what was happening before the meeting on that Monday.

Over the weekend, was the other comm, Hall Pub. The movie marathon really tired me out, but enjoyed it. It was only to be a short enjoyment cos came Sunday it was back working for the Hall. Layout and design was tough. I already had a briefing before my exams were over so that I could get right into work. But then again, doing this really helped in reflecting what went on the whole past year. Good timing since people are leaving and the 3 months ahead. Closing a chapter and opening a new one. Still more to be done till now. But I can safely say the bulk of the sai kang is over. The rest should be just formating.

Next, RAG comm. People were already leaving before my exams had finished. I got the news that I was in charge days before my last paper. I was stunned, damned and what the hell. Tried not to think of it or read the mail till my movie marathon was over. That Monday after, read the mail and catch up on who's who. It was like trying to get the steering wheel and getting the car to drive straight again after the driver disappeared for a few days and the car was wandering. By now, there was a ton of things on my head. Headaches after exams, who would have thought of that. My friend only had 4 words to say. "You asked for it."

In between it all, I had to see people off. Good friends who were leaving for better shores. It could be the last time I'd ever see them again. I did think of getting gifts, but my busy schedule that week and and grasping all the stuff sided with my laziness. So in the end, it was just a wave goodbye. Their images remain in my head and will so till I meet them again.

Came Saturday, had to go to a friend's bday party. Minds Cafe @ Boat Quay. Cool place with cool board games. Learnt a new one called Blokus. Google it, quite fun to play. That same night was also the FA Cup final. Nerve wrecking it was. For a while I was listening to it over BBC radio. Quite old school, but still could feel the excitment. In the end I saw the extra time and penalties. Just in time to join the celebrations. Last year I missed it until they lifted the trophy. Made sure I couldn't this time round.

The next week was supposed to go to genting with me secondary school friends. But due to low turn out, it was postponed. Later it was cancelled. Guess I was being too assertive maybe, cos my friend had that idea, and I said why not get the whole gang to go. I guess asking out a few friends whom you never met for quite a while to go on a short trip wasn't a good idea. I suggested downgrading it to just a dinner outing. In the end, it's just like 4 people watching X-men next Monday.

The rest of that week was spent clearing the RAG area. There was NUSSU meetings, meetings with Hall people. Sometimes I see the state and shake my head. But as I say, until the white tree falls, there is hope. One reason for going exchange is to escape from it all, but that's another issue to talk about.

The science office called me a few days back. They said I gotta remap my modules all over again. It got me all thinking again. To go or not to go. It's just getting harder and harder. Rejection is an easy way out, but there are also consequences. There are push and pull forces going around me. It's up to me to deicide.

Now at home... downloading music... still a long way to go....

The Final Strides
A few more hours to my last paper. Someone told me it's the last paper of the whole sem! There isn't another paper at 5pm for me to suan the ppl. Damn...

Well, it's been a long sem, no stopping since the Dec holidays and right up to the last day of the study period. Then right after that it's back to hall stuff immediately. Really gotta get up to speed of things and whip some asses to shape. Things on some fronts seem to be going quite slow, so gotta need some catalysts.

Off to breakfast now, the next puzzle will appear soon.

A Riddle Follows
A florence wife possessed a knowing smile,
And dark mysterious eyes that did beguile.
Her portrait "La Gioconda" rose to fame.
Although we know her by another name.

(This one's easy...)
