Delta Goodrem - Be Strong
Haven't got much time to blog of late. My schedule kept changing faster than the cable speeds on my starhub maxonline. The interviews are coming in. And so are sailing. And so are my part time jobs. Really gotta shuffle everything sia. The prob is that everyone thinks I work part time for them only, and I don't do anything for the rest of the time. So pls, I have to run to somewhere else one. Then gotta send out resume also. This period reminds me of the time when I had the Maybank internship. I had to come back to do hall pub stuff also. So juggling lotsa stuff. In the mean time, check this out.

A Late Nite Snack
Can't sleep cos I slept too much in the afternoon. But something to blog about before sorting out my stuff for the interview coming up.

LAWS OF INEVITABILITY

LAW OF MECHANICAL REPAIR
After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch or you'll have to pee.

LAW OF THE WORKSHOP
Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.

LAW OF PROBABILITY
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

LAW OF THE TELEPHONE
If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal.

LAW OF THE ALIBI
If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning you will have a flat tire.

VARIATION LAW
If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will start to move faster than the one you are in now (works every time).

LAW OF THE BATH
When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

LAW OF CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

LAW OF THE RESULT
When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

LAW OF BIOMECHANICS
The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

LAW OF THE THEATER
At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last.

LAW OF COFFEE
As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

LAW OF LOCATION
No matter where you go, there you are.

LAW OF LOGICAL ARGUMENT
Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

BROWN'S LAW
If the shoe fits, it's ugly.

OLIVER'S LAW
A closed mouth gathers no feet.

WILSON'S LAW
As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.

DOCTORS' LAW
If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better. Don't make an appointment and you'll stay sick.

Something for you to ponder about.
A friend asked me to continue my Potato Chips, but I'm kinda stuck at it. Thing is, my monitor died on me a few days back, and I've been using only my laptop screen. No more dual monitor screen liaoz. And it's hard adjusting back. On top of tht, I just shifted my things on the table to a nice configuration and the monitor died. Now gotta unplug wires n stuff which is such a hassle, so it's staying there for a while. Will try to find another monitor when the time comes. Just the laptop n me for now.

Matchbox 20 - Bright Lights
Another vid for you guys

She got out of town
On a railway New York bound
Took all except my name
Another alien on Broadway

There's some things in this world
You just can't change
Some things you can't see
Until it gets too late

(chorus)
Baby, baby, baby
When all your love is gone
Who will save me
From all I'm up against out in this world
and Maybe, maybe, maybe
You'll find something
That's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around
And come on home

I got a hole in me now
Yeah, I got a scar I can talk about
She keeps a picture of me
In her apartment in the city
Some things in this world
Man, they don't make sense
Some things you don't need
Until they leave you
then they're things that you miss, you say

(chorus)

Let that city take you in
Let that city spit you out
Let that city take you down
For God's sake turn around

(chorus)

Yeah, come on home
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Come on home
Yeah, come on home
Yeah, come on home
Yeah, come on home
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Come on home
Breathless
Found this from a friend's blog. She has a knack for finding good songs I must say.

Better Than Ezra - Breathless

Here you are now
Fresh from your war
Back from the edge of time
And all that you were,
Stripped to the bone
I thought youd want to know

That when you feel the world is crashing
All around your feet
Come running headlong into my arms
Breathless
I'll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running headlong
Into my arms
Breathless

Lay down your guns
Too weak to run
Nothing can harm you here
Your precious heart
Broken and scarred
Somehow you made it through
I only ask that you won't go again

When you feel the world is crashing
All around your feet
Come running headlong into my arms
Breathless
I'll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running headlong
Into my arms
Breathless

So glad to see you smiling
So good to hear your laugh
I think that you've found you even
Missed yourself
I'm only asking this because I think that
Truth be told
Oh, you'll never go again
Again

When you feel the world is crashing
All around your feet
Come running headlong into my arms
Breathless
I'll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running headlong
Into my arms
Breathless
Breathless

I Have The Biggest Airport
My bosses have "flown my aeroplane" so many times lately that I can have an airport that can rival Changi or O-Hare. But partly to blame is also the crazy weather. Point to note - Don't end up in a work where the weather determines whether you work or not. Sad to say, my both interests depends on the weather. And so, another woman must decide my fate this month. Thanks to La Nina, there's more rain this month, and my field trips are being cancelled like crazy. Thankfully, the 2 days of the regatta I went to help turned out to be 2 whole days of very good sailing conditions. So much so that I'm so tanned I looked charred. Now the skin is starting to peel. Sighz, but it was fun, spending the whole day out at sea, even having lunch and doing "my business". Learnt a lot more about competitive sailing in that 2 days. So in all it was good.

However, this month really felt lost and wandering for me. There's always a sense to find work, but yet at the same time, when you feel like going out, there's no one to go with or ask. Maybe it's also I don't have the money to go out. Time to press the red button. Really really press the red button.

So Liverpool are on a trot. There's lots of talk about Torres and how amazing we are and the rest of the Big 4 are struggling. I just get a feeling that complacency will come soon. We won't end on a high. It always happens this way. Let's just hope this year is different.

F1, it's now like the number one public education module in Singapore. There's a lot of people who already know whatever you publish in the papers. Should have joined ST. Damn. Anyway, the Australian GP had a 2 page spread in the sports section on Monday. Coming first before the EPL news. Goodness. I still remember a few years back it was just a small column after the school sports and the next page was the obituary. And thus I conclude, all our media is under the government control. They give you the facts they want to tell you, not all the facts. The way to go is the internet and cable. Now I wonder when will Astronomy be coming.

"I know it's love, when she can complete my sentences." - Anonymous
Heard this over the radio on Love Songs on Class 95. It got me thinking. No one has yet able to do that for me. It's always me completing their sentences. So I guess, I haven't found the right one yet. My friend mentioned recently that I should lower my expectations. I'll stick to them, cos lowering would just make matters worse.

Oh well, at least I don't have the Monday blues. Finally have a whole free day where I can sleep all I want, get well rested and finally do some concrete stuff from where I left off the last time.

Got to go for now.

Some Pics For The Night
Was surfing around this week and caught a few pics to share.

Yup, the Champions League is looming behind you. Tonight, it's Liverpool's chance of going into the next round as they face Inter Milan at the San Siro.

My sports car will have such a warning sign in future.

The whole truth and nothing but the truth. Click on the image to read what the cup says.

I'll look like that at the rate the subber is releasing his anime. It's been 3 weeks without his high quality Gundam. I've been settling for lousy versions just to satisfy my thirst for the storyline. But I download his for keeps cos it's the best quality.

That's all for now. Not much activity lately, just catching up on shows and clearing my harddisk.

A Slight Change In The Wind
Well, part of this post was an email to a friend in the US which I have never contacted for a long long time. Quite surprised he call me on a Sunday noon. But it was a nice surprise, and feels good to have nice surprises now and then. Since I was explaining some stuff to him, I guess most of u also want to know about it.

"Guess you’re confused like everyone else how many part time jobs I have right now. That one is the sailing one. Now, how it all comes about…

Basically after I graduated, my teaching assistant (TA) from the previous semester in a bio module emailed the whole batch saying that her good friend was looking for part time and full time instructors in her company. So I applied it and got it. My first interview and I was offered the job. I was kinda hesitant as I couldn’t believe I could be this lucky. So anyway, I started working part-time first, even though she offered me full-time. The pay was what was holding me back. So I started bringing sec kids to field trips to parks and beaches and teach them the wildlife u can find there. In addition, I also teach about conservation and the environment, i.e., the community service part, which they clock hours.

And so, I’ve been doing this for quite a while, at the same time still applying for jobs. When the job hunting started to look bleak, I was kinda decided on going full time, but just when I wanted to, my 2 other colleagues went full time already. My boss was looking for 2 full timers this yr and didn’t want to expand so fast. She said she really would like me in the team, but for now, she’s not ready to expand so fast. So I was one step too late. But she did say when she wants to expand, I’ll be first on her list. Thus, I’ve become a full part-time for her. Going for every fieldtrip they have but never going to the office.

Yet as she rejected me, she offered me another job. She mentioned that the company was working with the National Sailing Centre in setting up a new sailing course and they were training up instructors and asked if I was interested. It was a good chance to learn to sail and of course, a good chance for another part time job on my hands. The good thing is, I won’t be stuck in an office, but out at sea.

I went for workshop after workshop, took up the sailing course, the first aid course, and next up is the powerboat course. It is a long term investment right now, but the outcome seems to be bright. From the talk I have with the coordinator of this new program and the people, we’re going to be the pioneering batch of instructors and will launch in June, hopefully. It’s gonna be big as well, since it’s endorsed by the National Sailing Centre, so there’s money pumping in. By the looks of it, it might end up a full time thing, since we’re the ones spearheading it. I mean, I’m already burning up my weekends for this, and they’re starting to eat into the weekdays, so much so I don’t have time to look for other jobs. So I guess I’m putting quite a lot into this and hope the fruits come out ripe."

As for my boss, she's the best boss in the world. Although she has her flaws, she can be inspiring and I've learnt a lot from her in just these 3 months. I mean, who can give u good pay, make u enjoy ur time when u work, it's ok to be a bit late, treat u drinks when the work is over, and can talk to you about ur fav subject, even drive you to the nearest mrt, or even home, and even drive you to work. On top of that, in those long car rides she would share her experience and insights for you to be inspired. She's someone I've come to look up to, and I can see that everyone she comes into contact with also looks up to her as well. I may sound like she's some wonder woman, but she has her flaws but I shan't mention them lah. No nice to do that. But those flaws are easily overcome by her plus points.

Then again, thanks to her, I'm beginning to see the bio community I've come to hear about, and slowly easing into it. There's also sailing community as well. Something I couldn't do when I was still in NUS. I wouldn't blame it on wasting my time in Hall, but rather, Hall life is something I'm proud I've experienced, something not many people can say so. And adding that to what I have now, it's just getting better.

Oh well, time to clear up stuff which has accumulated in the past week.

Midweek Update
Suppose to go for a field trip today but thanks the rain which has been around for the past few days, it was postponed. This field trip was actually last week loh. Guess someone just doesn't want me to work. As I'm hitting a lull period soon, it's high time to start searching for other sources of income. But first, thanks to the postponed fieldtrip, I decided to miss last night's match as well.

As I woke up this morning, Gerrard greeted me with a "I told u so look." Sighz, they always end up trashing when I try to stay up for a match and still miss it.

"That goal was for u."

All smiles at Merseyside.

So all's happy on that front. Now to maintain that momentum. Oh and I also got my sailing cert liaoz. But my instructor says I gotta go remedial lessons, and it starts next week. Looking forward to it actually. Come to think of it, I enjoy all this work. Never been happier working for something u really enjoy. You dun see many going to work with a smile like Gerard at the end of the day, but I'm like that right now. So I guess my perm job should be something freelance where I can still do all this stuff. Not easy to find though.

Nothing else much for now. Another test coming up. And another one at the of the month. Next stop is to conquer powerboat.

If you think u think u whine a lot. Check out the complaints choir.

U can go their website to see the lyrics, cos the vid has quite a bad audio.

I'm in Love... with Sailing!!
Wah, first time out in the water on a sail boat. Started off quite sian cos no wind in the morning. Even collided with the pier before going out. Then, as we came back shore for lunch, the winds picked up. Waited and rested quite a while before heading out again. And it was full swing ahead! Damn shiok to have the wind in your face, gliding along the water. Although it was tiring and bruises on my knee, I truly enjoyed it.

Can't talk much for now, gotta mug for sailing test tmr. And I still see everything rocking like I'm still at sea, even though my feet are firmly on the ground. Ok ok, the screen starting to rock and sway liao...

I'll leave u with an interesting post i came across some time back.

How do you prove photography to a blind man?

Rain, Rain Go Away
It's been a tiring day. Whole day learning about sailing. And just when we're about to get out into the water, the sky turned grey and it was going to rain. Ended up only practiced capsizing before heading back to the classroom. Tmr promises to be out the whole day, so hoping for the best. Test comes on Wed, then Sat got 1st aid test. This is becoming to feel like the mid terms, but this time round, half the module was taught in 3 full days. So.... gonna study to pass the test. Haiz, never knew I had to do this after I grad.

Another long day ahead, so gonna turn in early again. I'll leave u another vid, or music vid, a rather long music vid to be extact. It's by R Kelly, titled Trapped In The Closet.

Here's the links, dun want to vid to slow down loading the page.
Part 1
Part 2
Weird Al" Yankovic spoof (yeah, there's even a spoof)

Have fun listening to it. Don't die laughing...

Clearing Drafts
Another weekend again. Been quite uneventful until the weekend came by.

Went through 1st Aid course. Been a while since I used so much of my brains. More to come in the week ahead with sailing course. Haiz, for the better good.

Another weekend again, and again I can't sleep. Maybe I'm already tuned to shut off at 3am and not 12am. So yeah, back here blogging again. At least I got this blogging habit back. But really there's quite a number of things i gotta do which I think is keeping me awake despite the need to rest for the full day ahead of me.

Being unemployed still bothers me, and being stuck in the middle of the process sucks. You can't plan your future, and everything is your past. When people ask u what are u doing now, all u can say is nothing. And I'm not one who does nothing. People jio u for their grad trips and u can't confirm. Haiz....

So still Sleepless in Simei. I decided to clear some of my drafts posts which have been lingering for a while and I didn't post. So here goes.

Some Quotes...

"I rather you be happy always and i can't find a topic, than you be sad such that i can msg you. "

"Though I know it's impossible, I still wish to hold your hands. However fleeting that might be."

Some people want to change the world.
Some want to save the world.
Me?
I want to light up the world.
With hope.
With happiness.

Some people change the world
Some save the world
I light up the world.
With my smile.
With the brillant light inside me
the energy from within.

One day when I am old,
i will say to my grandchildren,
Some people changed the world,
Some saved the world.
Your grandmother?
She lit up the world.
With her zest for life.

For I am a star.
in every way of the word.

The Warmth Of The Sun, The Chill Of The Wind

Until I see her again.
My heart for her wanes.
She will soon be only a memory in my dreams.

(this was typed in 2006! Which rings quite true. The less you see the person, you'll slowly forget her. Oh well, I think I've moved on. I think.)

That's all for now. Gonna go into my think-too-much mode then try to tire my brain to sleep.
